3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy is perfect for off-road walking & taking on terrains from bumpy pavements to woodland tracks. They are also more easy to manoeuvre up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.

Stability

With four wheels and a centre of gravity that is balanced by the weight of your child in the seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than 3 wheeled pushchair-wheelers. But that doesn't mean that the three-wheel buggie isn't worth considering, as some of them are built to cope with anything from rough terrain to bustling high-streets.

Choose a buggy that has large rear wheels and an lockable wheel on the front. This makes it more comfortable to drive and less likely to snap apart on rough roads. These all-terrain buggies typically have pneumatic tyres, too. They are great at handling uneven surfaces and can be used on sandy beaches or woodland tracks.

Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies generally provide better maneuverability than pushchairs with four wheels. They usually have a swivelling wheel on the front that allows you to change direction quickly and steer with just one hand. Some models have wheels that lock to provide stability on rougher terrain. Some models can even be used with a second seat or buggy board if you're planning to expand your family.

If you plan to take your three-wheeled buggies off the paved roads, you should choose a model that has pneumatic tyres. They are able to handle the most difficult terrain. These tyres may require regular pumping but will be far more durable than solid tyres and more likely to be puncture-proof. You should choose a model that has an adjustable front wheel that is locked to assist you on tricky surfaces.

When folded, three-wheelers may be heavier than four-wheeled buggies due to the single wheel in front. Be sure that the model you pick fits in your car's boot and can be positioned in a straight line if needed. Some models are able to be folded with just one hand and stand on their own when collapsed. This will save space in car boot spaces that are smaller.

A well-constructed 3 wheel pushchair is able to cope with most terrain from busy main streets to tracks through woodlands. It's important to think about what you'll be using it for every day.
