Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are multi-functional, multi-purpose companions of caregivers and parents. They are the co-pilots of your child's next adventure.

A pram newborn is dedicated to newborns and babies. It has an incredibly sturdy, deep carrycot with soft and safe walls.

A pram will typically come with a bassinet, but it can be transformed into a stroller seat when baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns are extremely fragile and must be kept as safe as you can. A pram or stroller that has safety features will keep your baby safe and comfortable during travel. A cheap stroller or pram must have a working break, a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps and two waist straps and an e-crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person driving it. Verify that the stroller you select meets these requirements.

Find a stroller that allows your baby to ride in the position recommended for lying flat. This position helps your baby and helps prevent the development of a risky curve in their spine which could lead to problems with their spine. By keeping the airways open, it lowers the chance of SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). The majority of prams that can be used from birth will have the seat unit, which will recline into a lie-flat pram mode for younger babies and then transform into a pushchair unit for older children.

The suspension of the pram will determine how smooth it rides. A pram that has lots of spring suspension will be more expensive, but it is worth the extra expense if you plan to use your pram each day for a couple of years or more.

Always make sure to go through the instruction manual and look over the warning labels on your triple stroller or pram. When not using it, place your stroller in a safe area away from potential dangers like bicycles, traffic or other people. It is recommended to remove any bags or items off the handles, as they could cause your baby to get trapped or even die.

Even if the baby is asleep, it's never a good idea to leave a pram or stroller unattended. They may squirm into the pram and get trapped, or it could be pushed away and cause injuries. It is also not recommended to hang bags or other things off the handles as they could fall and hit your baby in the head.

Comfort

Possibility of lying flat seating is a must for newborns, as it promotes better back and lung development. Cocoons or carrycots are available on many prams. They create a nest-like space that is a comfortable place for your baby and can be removed easily from the frame. Other models, such as the egg2's bucket-style seat do not recline to lay flat, but provide a comfy ride for your baby.

Some prams also have an extra bassinet, newborn stroller or inset seat so that you can easily switch between sleeping and sitting modes depending on your bub's needs. This is often described as a "compact travel pram system" and is the first option to try out with your baby.

Find a pram that has two shoulder straps (ideally with padding) and a functional five-point safety harness that fits your bub's body safely. Be sure that there aren't any gaps or loose areas where fingers could get trapped and that the buckles are easy to use, particularly for older children. You should also consider if you'd like a parent-facing pram. It is great for keeping an ear on your child, and makes them feel more secure by having their parents around.

Convenience

When buying a pram newborn it is essential to consider your baby's needs for transport. Some prams include an infant bassinet, carrycot or a seat that reclines to an upright position. This is important to ensure your baby's spinal development and breathing. It is also a good idea to check out the other accessories are included in the pram, such as the footmuff and changing bag which are essential for keeping your baby warm during colder weather.

It's important to note that some strollers and prams can be transformed into travel systems allowing you to connect a car capsule to the frame using adaptors so that you can transfer your baby between the car and the double pushchair without having to get them up. This is a great option when you live a busy life or don't have a sufficient space for prams, however it is worth bearing in mind that your child will need to be old enough and able to sit independently before you can change between the car capsule and pram.

Make sure that your pram newborn has a sturdy base and wheels that can handle potholes and bumps. You should also be able keep changing and shopping bags in the basket underneath (although keep in mind that loading the pram with too much weight can cause it to tip over).
