3 Wheel Double Buggy

Claire Our test participant, Claire, was impressed by the packaging. It was easy to open and clean. She found it to be among the most simple and quick pieces of baby equipment to assemble. She took it out for a spin on some rough terrain and was extremely pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of 3 wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs. However, some can convert to take a second seat or carrycot using adapters (these are usually more common in tandem buggies). Certain models let you add an additional board for older children who are able to walk but require a little help.

The phil&teds dots are great single buggys that can be easily modified to take two (or three!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially useful if you have a baby in a car. The frame can be affixed to a wedgie that allows for the most optimal lying-flat position. Or car seat adapters that work with many brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine how easily you and your child/children are able to push it. A smooth ride is essential because babies feel every bump in the road, especially if it's on rough terrain like grass or paths that aren't paved. Some models come with front tires that lock to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models have air-filled tyres which are ideal for all-terrain riding, however they are prone to punctures. Make sure you have a spare set of tyres inside the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres that are designed to withstand bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you might find them to be a bit stiff and uncomfortable for your child's back if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath put the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her newborn and 3 years old son, and found it performed admirably on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements dirt tracks, cobbles and cobbles effortlessly and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and go up and down kerbs.
