Line-up

The album's third, Turn Back, marked a return to the classic sextet arrangement of the previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort that had an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. Its more punk-rock sound was indicative of the maturation of group and featured drummer Bobby Kimball's improved proficiency on the drums, as well as a more mature, confident vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. Keyboardist David Paich's work also was more precise, sharper, and less derivative than earlier performances.

After touring to promote the album, the band recorded a live show in Amsterdam that was released as a set of two CDs entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records.
