Group 3

A group 3 infant seat is a 3-in-1 car seat that can be used from birth up to the booster stage. These seats are designed to be rear-facing (some up to at least 9kg) however, they can be changed to be used forward facing infant car seat-facing up to the maximum weight limit of 36kg.

These seats are typically very comfortable and provide excellent head and neck support. Many of them come with removable and machine washable padding for newborns to keep them germ-free. One of the most effective models we've tested was the Nuna PIPA Air Rx comes with two inserts - one made from sustainably-sourced materials, and the second made of organic cotton certified by GOTS, to keep your baby extra snuggly.

This model is not just equipped with impressive crash test results but it also has a user-friendly design. It includes a single-handed reclining setting and 12 different headrest positions. It's also simple to set up using ISOFIX and comes with a handy color-changing indicator to indicate when it's secured.

We wouldn't recommend swapping groups too soon, as children at the lower limits of each group can be more susceptible to injury in a crash therefore it's best to hold on to the seat you've always had until your child is at their new limit. Group 4
