WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you an increase in specific statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the
item upgrader mod used to upgrade will remain in use for a long time and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other items. They are purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item level upgrade (

item upgrading has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased by having players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an
item upgrader kit upgrader at the beginning unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead, the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades are acquired via a variety of means that are both an improvement but also a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system was tweaked a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW, players have a few options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests, based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can obtain crests by finishing content at the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and performing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulties for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ dungeons or heroic raid bosses for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. For example, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't need Flightstones to be upgraded. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible level for all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. For instance it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the
Best item upgrader equipment available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly relevant for items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The account-wide discount will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
