World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades can also boost bonuses like Crit chance and damage from PvE.
For example an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
item upgrading (
Source) costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level rises.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into armor, weapons and trinkets in order to provide an extra stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them; the item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear from the ascended, or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade could have a prefix or suffix changing the name of the item to which it is applied (for example "Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades are available to be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. These upgrades are available for purchase them from the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of an
item upgrader kit will be revealed during the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear even when they're not sure what will be improved after an update.
If a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process may be costly and there is a significant possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails; a failure to upgrade can destroy Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to minimize or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide a bonus if they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in special sockets. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing affixes. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways, and we suggest getting them to level 15 as soon as you can.
You will often find in the final game that placing Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only
upgrade items component that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide a large boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to get higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and rebuilt using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values can enhance a stat by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Each Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs, and there are also a few rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
Once you have the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that boosts a particular set of stat nodes in the vicinity of the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats, or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will boost all nodes connected to them, therefore it is best to put Glyphs in the most important places on the Graph. This will maximize the impact. For example an Druid should try to position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes but you should also be sure to place them near the most critical damage nodes as well.
Leveling
The
item upgrading system allows players to increase the effectiveness of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items can be upgraded up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used for leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned you'll be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player, the base item is replaced by a new item of the same type. The same armor can be transformed into an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage since the item may become more expensive even if you do not require it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. The item will be replaced by the same item, but it has a base of level 1 and totally different bonuses. This is a good idea however it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides a buff if the player repeatedly enters or exits water. The item can be upgraded several times, increasing the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item can be very useful in PvP battles, since a perfectly rolled version of it could be worth between 20 and 50x its non-upp'd value.
Requirements
Item upgrading allows players to upgrade the quality of their equippable equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate items and currency to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrading armor set pieces will also increase the base defense of the piece, whereas upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and the strength and dexterity required to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
Each
item upgrader kit can be upgraded up to five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will result in the item reverting to its original condition and the player having to spend additional items than if they stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item does not upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or the speed of reloading). However, the user can still continue to use the weapon or armor following the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied in order from lowest to highest. This means that if a weapon receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a new attribute that has been added to
item upgrade definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to its value. For example an item of common use could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items could require different upgrades than regular gear. For instance they may require less sowels, however they may require more minerals and orons. The player will still need to bring each piece of gear they want to upgrade to NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade to equipment will require different amounts of upgrade ingredients in addition to the cost mentioned above.
