WoW Upgrades - The
Item UpgraderUpgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases
item upgrader mod level by 3. Each upgrade also increases the random substatus.
Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to
upgrade item gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the
item upgrader mod used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
The cost of upgrading will depend on the current item level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be bought by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for various currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased it can be used on any weapon or tool using the help of button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and current
item upgrader mod level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.
Item upgraders can be found in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount and a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrading increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no item upgrader available at the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades must be acquired through various methods, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. After an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is regardless of whether the items come from an entirely different set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones needed to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available after certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
When upgrading gear in WoW players have a couple of choices. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more special, and are used during specific level upgrades for items. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.
The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be spent on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that each rank has different requirements for its upgrade path. The most basic and straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of equipment being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an Item Upgrader [

Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they have only one purpose. It is best to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear that you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with high-quality equipment.
