The Canasta
The game of Canasta, part of the Rummy family of card games, was a huge hit in America in the 1950s. The object of the card game is to make melds (three cards or more of the same rank), and canastas (seven or more cards). The larger the meld, the more points you will earn. Wildcards are jokers and 2s. A meld has to have at least two natural cards to be valid. The game is won by the team that is first to reach 5,001 points.
Canasta was developed by Segundo Santos and Alberto Serrato in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1939, while playing cards with friends. They wanted to create a game that was more time-consuming than Bridge and less dependent on chance than Rummy. They combined elements of the games Bridge, Rummy and Conquan to create Canasta, a game which combines strategy with luck and chance.
Each player receives 13 cards that are split into two piles: the hand and foot. Each player is required to meld at least three cards in columns which are referred to as sets. A set is a collection of three or more cards of the same suit and rank - for example, four Kings or three Fives. Once a set is completed the player will discard one card from his deck to the discard pile and cannot take any cards back into his hands until another turn.

Honeycomb is a delectable miracle of nature created by honeybees. It's a hexagonal structure comprised of beeswax, which is perfectly organized. It's also among the most useful elements of the beehive. Honeycomb structures are used in a myriad of scientific and engineering fields.
Honeycomb is used by the hive to serve three purposes as a nursery to raise new bees; as a storage area to store and transform pollen into "beebread"; and, finally, for a long-term storage facility for nectar. When a hive is swarming, the bees start an entirely new hive with a honeycomb foundation.
Bees build honeycombs by vibrating their flight muscles to generate heat. This softens the beeswax plate they expel from their abdominals. The bees then shape the wax into cylinders, and connect adjacent cells on both sides. This arrangement is extremely constant, which indicates that it's not just the result of a blind physical force but a highly-organized pattern of construction behavior. This is also an example of convergent evolution - when a similar feature appears independently in closely related species.
