Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique key case to celebrate the brand's centenary. It is made of Dark Stained Burr Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes a fluttering "B" paperweight, keys, and a booklet featuring never-before-seen 1930s 8 Litre images.

Aesthetics

Bentley is a firm that takes its aesthetics seriously. The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever designed. The rear tonneau of the Continental GT, for example included the largest piece ever made of dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer that was book-matched. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after automotive brand in the world because of its unique design and craftsmanship. The company is constantly pushing the boundaries with the latest technology and craftsmanship. Alongside a range of exquisitely executed styling tweaks, the Mulsanne is powered by a twin-turbocharged 6.75-litre W12 engine that can produce 560bhp and 479lbft of torque. This amazing power is coupled by a brand new suspension system which provides Bentley's renowned smooth ride.

Bentley has announced a special specification for cars built after the year 2019 in order to celebrate its centenary. This is known as the Centenary Specification. The cabin is decorated with cross-stitching as well as contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered in Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. Function

It is also equipped with Secure-A-Key which can help prevent theft of keys without keypads. This device is placed inside the remote-control fob and then shuts it off in the event that the key isn't used for more than a few minutes. It prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that will allow the key to be opened and start the vehicle.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their car. The guests sit at a collection of images, referred to "mood stations" and pick a collection of photos - from scenic views to sporting events that inspire them to design their own. Bentley estimates it takes approximately 500 man-hours to design and put together the typical Mulsanne. The main reason for this lengthy effort is a conscious refusal to adopt the latest technology. Instead of using a machine to space the perfectly-matched leather seats workers at the Crewe factory do it by hand. Drivers must park their cars manually, rather than relying on sensors built into the vehicle to direct them to perpendicular and parallel spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization skills with the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, that pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. Edition, which pays homage to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The limited-edition cars come with an exclusive key that shows a small portion of the 1930 8 Litre's crankshaft.
